If you were to ask one hundred different people what they believe the best television show ever made is, you would have a pretty good chance of receiving one hundred different answers. But if there was one show that had a decent shot at appearing on top multiple times, it just might be the multiple Emmy Award-winning AMC drama about advertising executives and copywriters in the 1960s, Mad Men. Created by Matthew Weiner and starring John Slattery, Christina Hendricks, Vincent Kartheiser, Elisabeth Moss, and Jon Hamm as Don Draper, Mad Men delighted millions of people with its expert storytelling over the course of its seven season run.
Many would argue that the reason for Mad Men’s sustained brilliance was the exceptional writing boasted by the show. And if you are of this mind, too, then you should be really excited for the new Amazon original series, The Romanoffs.
An anthology series of eight episodes, Weiner has already recruited Slattery and Hendricks to star, but he is also reuniting many behind-the-scenes workers from Mad Men, including a writer, Semi Chellas, four producers, including Kathy Ciric, and numerous people who worked on casting, hair, makeup, costume design, and more. If you’ve always wanted more Mad Men, this might just be your best chance.
Of course, many other stars of Mad Men have gone on to do some wonderful things, as well. For example, Kartheiser starred on one of the most acclaimed episodes of Inside Amy Schumer, “12 Angry Men Inside Amy Schumer.” As for Moss, she has found a great deal of success with her new Emmy-nominated drama series, The Handmaid’s Tale. Hamm, the star of the show, won an Emmy for his work on the final season and has also delivered some killer performances in feature films like Baby Driver and Keeping Up with the Joneses.
