We are all familiar with the immense skills that Greta Gerwig has in the film industry. Starring in movies like To Rome with Love, 20th Century Women, and Jackie, Gerwig is a versatile actor. However, she has also written movies that were critical darlings like Frances Ha and Mistress America. This year, she will be making her directorial debut with Lady Bird, a movie that some critics believe features the best Saoirse Ronan (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Brooklyn) performance to date. But aside from this, Gerwig is also a talented fencer. Don’t believe me? Just watch the video below.
After receiving an Oscar nomination for her role in Brooklyn in the category of Best Actress, Ronan was defeated by Brie Larson who delivered an astonishing performance in the drama, Room, but it seems that with Gerwig’s latest effort (and she, too, has received quite a bit of attention from award ceremonies in the past) that Ronan, who made one of her earliest marks on cinema in the 2007 Best Picture nominee, Atonement, is primed to receive another Oscar nomination this year. The only question is whether or not she will be ousted once again.
