One of Gwyneth Paltrow’s star-making performances came in the Oscar-nominated 1998 classic biopic, Shakespeare in Love. A retelling of Romeo and Juliet through the lens of the play’s writing, the film helped make Paltrow, Joseph Fiennes, and Ben Affleck, among others, into household names. But unlike her character in that movie, Paltrow has admitted that she is not really lucky when it comes to love and romance.
The Academy Award winner appeared on an installment of “Girlboss Radio” and spoke candidly to the host, Sophia Amoruso, about her history with romantic entanglements, most notably, her ten year marriage to the lead singer of the wildly successful alternative rock band, Coldplay, Chris Martin. (The frontman even penned songs about his love for Paltrow, including the famous “Fix You.”)
She is currently dating Brad Falchuk, a producer of television, but she said on the episode that she has failed at so many relationships because of her vulnerability and her overall inability to successfully sustain a relationship romantically, though she did note that she believed herself to be a good friend and a good mother. Some of Paltrow’s past beaus include the aforementioned Affleck, Brad Pitt, and Luke Wilson. Paltrow seems to have primed herself for success with Falchuk, though!
And it would not be fair to talk about Paltrow’s own experiences with love without mentioning how the others she has been entangled with have fared. After all, Brad Pitt, known for being one half of the famed celebrity couple “Brangelina” recently split up with Angelina Jolie, after splitting up previously with Jennifer Aniston. Affleck, on the other hand, has been having some trouble in his own marriage, with a divorce seeming to be more and more likely from his wife, Jennifer Garner. Martin, on the other hand, has been mum about any future romantic involvements for himself.
