In 2017, Selena Gomez has released some truly amazing tracks that have flooded the airwaves of pop music radio, including jams like “Bad Liar” and “Fetish,” as well as a collaboration into electronic music with the track, “It Ain’t Me.”
Typically, musicians capitalize on this success by promoting the hit songs during the summer and performing them at specific venues, like award shows.
However, Gomez was not doing that this summer and fans learned the reason why thanks to an Instagram post that the pop star shared on Thursday, September 14. She said in the caption that because of her Lupus, she was forced to undergo surgery for a kidney transplant and has been in recovery all this time.
The photo shared by Gomez shows her beaming and smiling while also attached to medical machines while laid up in a hospital bed. She is also in a bed next to her best friend, Francia Raisa, who you might know as one of the stars from Secret Life of the American Teenager. Apparently, Raisa donated one of her kidneys to Gomez.
Understandably, Gomez was moved beyond words as she struggled to find the right ones in her Instagram post in terms of thanking Raisa for undergoing such a strenuous process all for the sake of her best friend’s well-being. That is true friendship. Hopefully, the recovery of them both goes smoothly.
